Check the Lens Simulator before buying a camera lens

Want to buy a new camera or a lens for your existing camera and want to check how it would look through the lens. You will hardly find any showroom or shop where you can test or hold a real lens in hand to test with a camera. All that you can do is go by the reviews written by some famous authors or blog and you never know if it's a paid content.

Nikon Lens Simulator

Nikon offers a free web based tool for lens simulation [link] using which you can check different lens and it's zoom quality for your camera. You have an option to select the type of camera FX- Full frame or DX - APS camera and the type of lens that you want to buy or interested in. This is a good way to get a feel of how good the zoom quality is for a given Nikon camera lens. Almost all lenses are included here - Basic, Prime, Zoom, Telephoto, Macro, Wide Angle and special purpose lens. Even older versions of lens are included in the list of lenses. The lens simulator include only some of the basic things like macro or zoom and doesn't include image stabilisation - VR etc. Say, you want to compare older and new version of the 80 - 400 mm lens, the results for both would be the same as this lens simulator doesn't cover all the factors and covers only the basic things.

I would recommend to get a lens for rent from a local store or get it from a friend of yours to test a lens and this would be the best lens simulation than all these online tools. By doing so, you will get a feel in real of how good the lens is in addition to this online lens simulator.
