How to get free online study materials

If you are looking for a course or free online study material and you are having hard time in finding the right content or study material for you engineering exams or if you are not following what you professor is saying then there is something called OCW - Open Course Ware by MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology and NPTEL - National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning IIT & IISc - Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, India.

MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity. OCW makes the materials used in the teaching of MIT's subjects available on the Web. I used to download study material during my engineering days and I still go through some of them to keep my skills updated.

NPTEL is a curriculum building exercise and is directed towards providing learning materials in Science and Engineering by adhering to the syllabi of All India Council for Technical Education and the slightly modified curricula of major affiliating Universities. The NPTEL faculty have modularized their courses into core concepts which every one of these institutions may teach and topics which are add-ons to the course.

Both have a common goal and you can find more details on NPTEL- FAQs to know what exactly is the difference. The best thing is all these contents are free of cost and you will also know what exactly is being thought at MIT or IIT or IISc.
