How to perform System Restore in Windows

Have an issue after installing a new software, system driver in Windows or if your machine has become dead slow and is showing unpredictable behavior or if your system has crashed after some change that you have made to the system? Well, if you are wondering how to go back to the original settings or a way back to restore it to its original settings, then there is a way. System Restore can help you in going back to the original settings. This is a Windows built-in roll back feature which will undo recent changes to registry, hardware and the software setup without affecting any of your documents, files, pictures, personal folders and data.

System Restore is a built-in feature of windows and you can customize it by creating more system restore points. Here you can check this yourself as to what files are removed and restored while restoring. System restore in Windows uses a feature called system protection to regularly create and save restore points on your computer and these restore points contains information about registry and other windows  system information.

Follow these simple steps for system restore




  • Click on Windows Start button.

  • Type 'System Restore' and hit enter to Search.

  • System Restore pop-up will appear.

  • Clicking on next will show the list of updates and you can select any of the options.

  • Select the right option and click on next.

  • You have an option to scan for affected programs.

  • Click on finish to restore to the date selected.

Note that system restore will not backup your personal data. It's better you save all your personal data on your own as system restore will only restore windows files.
