How to track email return receipt

In outlook we have an option to check if your email has been read by your recipient or not by just enabling 'Request a Read Receipt'. Same is the case with IBM's Lotus Notes where you have an option to enable 'return receipt'. Not just in lotus notes or outlook you can check email return receipt for any email that you send.

There is a free service offered by SpyPig. SpyPig is a simple email tracking system that can send you an email notification when the recipient opens your message. It works with virtually all modern email programs like Outlook, Eudora, Yahoo Email, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL Email and many others. Most of them have their own tracking system, but here you have an option to notify users that recipient is being tracked (for some good reason). As per the company its not a spyware and not a spam, virus or adware. The company offers this service for free. The only requirement is both you and the recipient must use an HTML email, not plain-text or rich-text email. Following are the steps to follow to enable email return receipt:

• Goto SypPig website and you will find SpyPig Factory.


• Enter your email address and the message.


• Select one of the tracking image. Select a blank image if you don't want your email recipient to know about tracking. You even have an option to add your own image instead of the pig image.


• Generate and upload the tracking image.


• Now, send your email and have fun.

I would recommend to use the default options that we have in Outlook and Lotus Notes or any other email client. And let the user know that they are tracked. Use it for good purpose.
