One such online web based website monitoring tool that is completely free of cost is - Just Ping. Just follow the following steps to check if your website is ping-able from around the world or not.
- Go to Just Ping website.
- Enter your IP address or your domain name.
- Click on Ping button
According to their website Ping uses the ICMP protocol's mandatory ECHO_REQUEST datagram to elicit an ICMP ECHO_RESPONSE from a host or a gateway. If you don't understand the technology part of it, you don't have to worry. For those who want to know more about the technical part you can visit their website and go to About Ping page for more details.
The best thing about this is it is completely and the response is really quick. Also, while testing this Ping will ping your website from 50 different location across the world. As you can see I have verified my website and I see that for most of them the ping worked fine and there were around 4 to 5 ping's where there was 10 percent packet loss. Also, I see that 2 locations from China says - 'Checkpoint temporarily not available'. Not sure what's the meaning of that. So, What do you say? Do you think China is blocking most of the websites, my website or is it something to do with the ping server. Leave a comment on what you think and share this post with your friends if you find it useful. Let me tell you that this is one simple and easy to use online web based website monitoring tool.
I tried that website its nice !!
ReplyDeletemine says packet lost 100% new Delhi and 82% Vancouver Canada !! :( China all ok !!
:) Not sure why.. I have seen this issue with Indian servers.. It takes much more time to ping or to download a file hosted in India than US or Singapore servers. Try again after some time to check.. How about China.. did you find any issues ?
ReplyDeleteno issues with China !!
ReplyDeleteThe tool is good, but I would like it to have some troubleshooting. I have a tool Anturis which offers me such a scheme every time when a problem happens.
ReplyDeleteI agree with "marykaichini". When I do pinging submission.. antivirus display alert messages time to time. But overall, it is best SEO tool.
ReplyDeleteI give Vote to this tool. :)
A monitoring tool that I found very useful in monitoring my website is Content Site Monitor.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't just ping your server to make sure that it’s alive. It allows you to specify certain content/keywords that you want to monitor. It will send you alert email if the content/keywords are missing from your site or if your site goes down.
Content monitoring is important for me because my site was defaced by hackers before and the regular site monitoring service that I was using that time didn't catch it (because it was still up). I didn't realize that my site was hacked until one of my customers told me about it one week later.
