How to promote your website post on Facebook

Have a website and want to promote your website or your blog post on Facebook. Well, you can always like a link or share an image on your Facebook Page and then re-share this on your Facebook profile or timeline. But what if you want the high importance post to appear on top of all your Facebook friend's news feed.

When you share a post from your Facebook Page to your Facebook profile or timeline the share image or post will have a promote (not always) option near the comment option at the bottom of the shared post as shown. I have seen that this promote option will not appear for all post and has appeared randomly when I shared. But to make this post appear on top of all your friend's news feed either many of your friends will have to share, comment or like your shared post or go for the promote option.

facebook promote page post

There are multiple ways to promote your website, but to promote your website page or blog post within your friends and make it appear on top of the news feed, all that you need to do is click on promote. It will show your a payment pop-up. Here you will have to use Paypal or your credit cards to promote your website or blog posts. There is no option to enter Facebook credits. Most of the promote option in Facebook gives an option for users to change the payment mode like Facebook credits. Note that Facebook credits is not just for games or for some online transactions within Facebook Store, it can be used for advertising as well. Once the payment is done your post will appear on top of the news feed for all your friends. Note that this promote option is limited to your friends and not to unknown people.

Will you go for this promote option on Facebook is left to you. I find this useless as you are asked to pay for something that you share with your friends just to make it appear on top of news feed or just to get noticed. Others who are not in your friend list will not be able to see this shared post. Instead of pay for this I would see that the post that I share is shared at the right time and share it again after sometime. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment, will you spend money on Facebook to promote your post that too just with your friends?

  1. ofcourse dear friend its a proper waste of huge money !! :) Promoting posts does not make sense to me .. rather FB promotion for likes is still sensible enough !!

  2. Promoting on Facebook is a total waste of money according to me.. They charge almost US 2$ for every like on your Facebook page.

  8. Usually Promote option appears for Facebook Pages. There is something called 'Boost Post' when you upload images or posts. If it doesn't appear then you can do that manually.

  9. Hi Ravindra, thanks for this article. Did you try to use some keyword research tools like Metrics11? It is not facebook related, but it can give you nice traffic from Google. It finds profitable keywords niches you can use on your site (title, content, description)
