It's always better to keep a track of all the changes that are happens in a system. It's not just for Google Analytics, but also for other tools as these change history details will help us resolving multiple issues. Say, you had updated your system followed by another update. And there are multiple users who are using the same system. By viewing the change history admin can easily find what changes were made by whom and at what time.
Same is the case with Google Analytics, change history in Google Analytics will keep a track of all the changes that were done in it and admin has the right to see the change history. As you can see in the below image, I have logged in as an Admin and there were four changes done to my Google Analytics account. Here is how you can view it:
- Log in to your Google Analytics account.
- Click the Home icon in the top left of your account.
- Click the Admin tab in the top right corner.
- Select the relevant account.
- Under the Account Settings tab select 'Change History'.
- This will show you all the changes that were done from the day your website was registered with Google Analytics.
This information is very useful when there are more than one user accessing Google Analytics. It's easy to keep track when you are the only person accessing your Analytics account as most of us know what changes were done. The issue is when there are multiple users accessing your Analytics account. Change history will keep a track of all the changes made by every user. So, admin will have clear understanding on what each user did. Useful for security purpose as well.
