How to trace an IP using IP tracking

Most of the websites and blogs have a security software or plugin installed for extra protection. Same is the case with my blog, and this protects me and keeps me updated on all the activities that's happening when i'm online as well as offline. Recently I got a security email alert saying someone had tried too many times to open a file from the directory. Luckily I keep all my security patches updated. In addition to this alert i also got the IP address of this hacker or the person who tried opening the file. IP tracking and tracing is very helpful when it comes to find the location of this user. With the IP address you can add it to your blacklist so that they are blocked from any such activities in future.

track any IP address here

There are many IP tracking and tracing tools available online like ip-address.com. By default this website will show your own IP address and also close-up location on Google maps. Enter the IP address that you want to trace here, in my case i got the IP address from the security alert and used the same for tracking. By default maps will not be visible, you can click on enable map which will show you the approx. location. What I have seen is the maps are not that accurate. It shows the ISP - Internet service provider's location.

You have an option to enter IP address or the name of the website that is to be tracked. Once entered, in addition to location there are many more details that you will be able to see like country, state, city name, latitude and longitude (I don't think it is very accurate) and ISP - internet service provider.

As you can see in the above image, I used the same IP address that I got from security alert and it was pointing to Putian city in China. Some one from this city had tried to open a file multiple times from my website and he was blocked. This way you will come to know the location and IP address of the person who is trying to access your website files without your permission. If there are multiple security alerts from the same IP then it high time you block this IP or take any necessary action.
