Most of us use notepad or notepad++ or Microsoft word as some of the most common text editors. But what if you are using an Android tablet or phone or a device which has an operating system which doesn't support notepad or notepad++. Well, most of the operating system will definitely have some or the other text editors. In windows, even though we have the widely used notepad, people still use notepad++ because of it's additional features. Similarly, we have many online editors available and all editing is done within the browser.

All that you need to do is search for these online text editors and install the app or extensions in your chrome browser. Not just that, most of them integrate well with the online cloud storage - Google drive.
Text: This simple text editor can be used with chrome operating system and chrome browser. This chrome app has syntax highlighter, you can open multiple files at once, you can save and sync with the cloud storage like Google Drive.
SourceKit: This editor looks more like any other professional software and can be considered as a lightweight programmer's text editor. All changes that you do will be locally and will be synced with your cloud storage Dropbox account provided Dropbox is installed in your local machine. You can access these test files from a remote location using Dropbox.
Caret: This looks like a professional editor with features like offline support, tabbed editing, colored themes and syntax highlighting for multiple languages, remembers and restores open tabs (you need to have Chrome stable version 31 and above), open files directly from chrome OS file manager, project view with folder navigation and project specific settings files and many more features.
ShiftEdit: This is more of an online IDE for developing PHP, Ruby, HTML, CSS and Javascript, and is ideal for webs development. This app has some time saving features like auto completion, code folding, snippets, jump-to-line closing etc. Also, this app supports sync with multiple cloud storage like Google Drive and Dropbox.
