How to download torrents remotely to cloud storage

Want your torrents files to be ready once you are back at home after your busy office hours or vacation. Usually you need to keep your PC or Mac ON all the time till the download of torrent is all over or till it starts seeding (uploading from your machine). I'm speaking about the legal torrents here in this article. But, I usually don't keep my machine switched on when i'm away. There is a workaround for this by downloading all torrents remotely to cloud storage.

There are too many free cloud storage services available online like Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, Box etc. All that you need to do is just make sure that you have the legal permission to download and transfer these files. You can use Dropbox and start downloading torrents remotely. This is a good option provided you have very good bandwidth to download and also unlimited or high download limit. The number of seeds available to download a file maybe less sometimes and it's a pain for you to wait till it increases. Lower seeds and lower upload limit set by others who are uploading might take longer time for you to download a file using torrents. So, it's better to download it to your cloud storage account like Dropbox before you go to office next time so that by the time you come back, it will be ready for you. The time taken for you to download the file from Dropbox might be less when compared to downloading fresh from torrents if the number of seeds are low.

To download a file to Dropbox in Windows: open Torrents (Bit Torrents, uTorrents etc) and go to Options >> Preference >> Directories. Here check the box next to 'Automatically open torrent files found in' and select the Dropbox folder. If you are a Mac user then Preference >> Downloads. Here check the box next to 'Automatically open torrent files found in' and select the Dropbox folder. Also, check 'Start transfer after opening each torrent file.'

In some of the places you are not allowed to use torrents. This is where you can download remotely from torrents to cloud storage and then access these files from cloud storage from anywhere. The above method is good for those with high bandwidth, else downloading files from Dropbox like movies might take more time. Also, the files that are saved in Dropbox can be easily moved and saved to some other folder within Dropbox as backup.
