Few year back when we all had to connect to our PC/Mac using LAN cable and later on it was all about WiFi. If you are in the range then you don't even have to enter the password (Other than the first time you connect). But what do you do when you are not in the range or when you are travelling and you need internet connection?

Mobile data network might help you in browsing on your mobile device like smart phone. But you cannot do everything that you can do on a laptop. Smartphones are good to check any notifications or alerts but when it comes to working on it for hours I prefer using my laptop and not smart phone even to write a blog post.

Sometimes I will not have access to internet specially when I travel or say, when you are at office connected over VPN. You might have limited access to some of the sites. Like upload and download may not be possible or even to view a particular site of your choice may not be allowed. With you mobile data network, you can do all of these on your smartphone as well as on you PC by connecting your mobile device which has data plan like 3G, 4G etc enabled to your PC.

This is how I connect my Android device's mobile data connection with PC.
- Go to your Android device 'Settings'.
- Go to 'More settings'.
- Select 'Tethering and portable hotspot'. You need to select this option to share your device's mobile data connection via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
- See that you connect the USB cable to your machine now or see that you PC's bluetooth is switched ON.
- There are three options. To connect using Wi-Fi hotspot enable 'Portable Wi-Fi hot-spot' and your mobile/Smartphone will act as Wi-Fi hotspot. Now, connect it just like how you connect to any other Wi-Fi modem.
- Enable 'USB tethering' if you are connecting through your USB cable.
- Similarly, enable 'Bluetooth tethering' if you are connecting using bluetooth. Don't forget to switch on bluetooth on your other device/PC.
- That's it and you are connected to internet.
- Once you are done with your work don't forget to disable this option, else you might end up in paying high month end bill.
