How to enable photo download on Google Plus

Recently I had travelled to a place with my friends and had too many pics to share. There are many photo sharing websites but I prefer picasa which I have been using for few years now. Google has integrated and upgraded it to Google Plus photos. All images were in RAW format and had to convert it to JPEG which took some time to convert as I had too many photos. Soon after the conversion I uploaded all of them to my Google Plus Photos and had shared it with my friends.

Photo download was much easier with the old picasa interface than the new Google Plus interface. Soon after sharing the photos with my friends, I got a message saying photo download was not possible even though I had shared it with public access. It took a while for me to find out why my friends did not see the 'download album' option in Google Plus. Follow the following steps the next time before sharing photos with your friends so that they get an option to download photos from Google Plus.

  • Login to your Google account.

  • Click on Google Plus as shown in the image below.

  • Scroll down and enable "Allow viewers to download my photos".

  • On enabling, your settings will be auto saved.

  • Now, upload photos and share it with your friends

Enable photo download on google plus

By default in Google Plus, viewers cannot download photos. You will be able to share photos with your friends with view/ read access and photo download will be disabled by default. Remember to enable this settings when you share pics the next time. Also, 'Allow viewers to download my photos' will allow photo download only to those with whom you have shared photos.

  2. If only it was as easy as that...
This setting allows others to download single photos, not complete albums!

  3. It's easy..to download the complete album.. just go to google+ >> Album >> open the album >> There is an arrow pointing downwards and one of the options in the drop-down is "Download album". That's it..
(Note: This update that I have given is as per this writing, it might change if Google+ plans to upgrade with some other new features.)
