Understanding Google Analytics website traffic report

Most of the bloggers register their website in Google Analytics for various reasons and one such reason is to get detailed website traffic report. It's good to see your website traffic growing all the time with few ups and downs sometimes, specially during festival season. My traffic went down during Christmas and New time because it's holiday time and most of the traffic that I get is from the US (and that too when they are at office).

You can install Google Analytics on your smart phone device like Android too in addition to desktop. If you have more than one Analytics account then check how to add multiple accounts to your Google Analytics on Android. By doing so, you can view multiple accounts in one place, all on your mobile device.

The image below shows website traffic report on my Android device. All my writings on the image will make it easy for you to understand about your website traffic. Usually when we see website traffic report on Wordpress, we don't get such detailed report. If you are not sure about Wordpress website traffic report then read - how to check website traffic stats within WordPress.

As you can see in the above image, there are multiple small rectangles/patches with different shades of blue color. This is more like an excel sheet. Rows represent the time and columns represent the weekdays for that particular week. The time zone is auto selected from your Android device.

Dark patches indicates more website traffic and very light patch indicates very low traffic. As per the above image/ my website traffic report show more dark patches after 4 PM till early morning 2 AM India time. What does this mean - this is the traffic that I get from the US. Form 7 AM to 7 PM is the traffic from Asian countries and in the afternoon most of the visitors are from European countries.

So, by looking at this website traffic report don't jump to any conclusion so soon. There are many factors to be considered like what your traffic source is, which region etc. Most of the visits that I get is from the United States followed by India, Canada, UK and other countries and as of this writing 83% of my web traffic is from search results. So, posting you blog post when the traffic is high may not necessary work as these webpages are indexed pages and it takes some time for your webpages to be indexed.
