You have been uploading almost everything to Google like photos in Picasa, writing blogs using Blogger, Google Drive to save all kind of files, your contacts, pages in Google plus, Google reader, videos uploaded in YouTube etc. What if you are running out of memory as most of the services provided by Google have a memory limit which you usually don't accessed, considering that you are a normal user. Well, you can always purchase additional space from Google or the other workaround is to check and export or delete old files from Google servers. Now, deleting is easy but exporting files one-by-one is a tedious task. There is a workaround for this too. You can use Google's Takeout service which is free of cost.
As shown here I want to backup/export all my data from my Picasa album. Login to Google takeout. Once you are logged in all your Google services will be listed. Now, select the service from which you want to pull out data. Example: Picasa. On selecting Picasa, Picasa will be highlighted and there is an option called 'Configure'. This option may not appear for all the services and is dependent on the service selected. For Picasa, clicking on configure option will give me options to 'Download all of your albums' or 'Download a single album'. Selecting single option will show me the list of albums that are present in my Picasa. I have an option to select the album, for now there is no option to select multiple albums. The only two options are to select one or all albums.
The same way I can select other services like Contacts. Now clicking on Achieve will pull out all your data into a zip file and this zip file can be downloaded. The data that was just pulled out, will continue to remain in Google server for 7 more days.
Yes, this is exactly what I got - a box saying "complete", a zip file name and a "download" button. No instructions on what to do next. Where is this file? It certainly isn't on my computer and clicking on Download again just brings the same box up.
ReplyDeleteIt is saved to your computer. While downloading the zip file select desktop or the folder that you want.. and it will be downloaded to that location. By default all documents will be saved in the Download folder.
