Have an older or cheaper android phones or if you have an android phone other than HTC One, One-X, Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2 then Facebook doesn't allow you to install Facebook Home from Google Play. Even if you try installing the Facebook Home from outside or if you get this app from third party store, it will allow you to install but after installation you will get a message saying, this device is not supported by Facebook Home yet.

If you are really interested in installing Facebook Home, follow the following steps even if you are using an older cheaper android phone.

  • Uninstall existing Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Facebook Pages Manager.

  • Download Facebook Home [Link] on your mobile device or to your machine - credit goes to XDA Developers.

  • Unzip the .rar file on your Android device using AndroZip File Manager and Winrar on your machine and copy the unzipped file to your Android device - any folder will do.

  • You Android device need not be rooted for Facebook Home to work, but if your device comes with the Facebook pre-installed then you need to root your device.

  • Once you unzip the downloaded file, you will find two .apk files - Facebook and Facebook Home.

  • Install these two apk files and tap on 'Home' app and an image as shown above will appear, select the default app.

  • After installing Facebook Home it will ask you to install facebook and will take you to Google Play to install this veriosn of Facebook, instead install the downloaded file.

  • Tap the Home option and it will start loading as shown here.

Note: I have tried this on my Samsung Galaxy Note which is not supported by Facebook as of now and it worked fine. To me it looked more like another live wallpaper and nothing more. Also, this app might consume more data, battery for the animation and also memory which might slow down your android phone - maybe this is the reason why Facebook has release this only for high end phones which has a quad core processor or better memory and battery.
