How to have the right keyword density per post

Gone are those days when website owners and bloggers were giving importance only to keywords and not on quality content. There were cases where the keyword and content did not match at all and had no meaning. Keyword stuffing to increase keyword density was the only thing that they were concerned about, just to get better page rank and traffic.

keyword densityThere are multiple ways to find the ideal keywords using so many tools available online and offline like the Google Adwords. With the latest on Google's algorithms like the Penguin and Panda updates, increasing keyword density by stuffing won't work any more and Google penalizes websites and blogs involved in such activities by bringing down their page rank. Many websites lost traffic and higher page ranks after the Google's algorithm update.

There is nothing called ideal or right keyword density per post or page. There is no specific number. It's better to keep it low and not anything more than 3 or worst case 4 in the entire post. If there is a keyword appearing once then that's perfectly fine. Even if it appears 2 or 3 times that should be fine. But anything more than 3 or 4 might alert Google's new algorithm saying that the blog or website owner might be using keyword stuffing tool. And if the appearance goes even higher say 10 or 15 times then Google will penalize and bring down the page rank. Lower Page Rank means lower traffic and hence lower income. So, be careful with your blog or website.

Instead of wasting time on this it's better to spend more time in writing better quality content and try other better things like getting involved more in social networking sites and having more number followers, which can also increase traffic to your website or blog. If your website or blog is already impacted with the new algorithm then try updating and deleting the older posts and pages to make it Google friendly and then you can expect your page rank to increase again. I would say not to go with any kind of Keyword stuffing tool or software. This will only hurt you and not help you.

  2. I also found similar article where Matt Cutts describes about keyword density:
The question is “What is the ideal keyword destiny: 0.7%, 7%, or 77%? Or is it some other number? Ok…keyword density. Let’s talk about it a little bit. A lot of people think that there is just one recipe and you can just follow that, like baking cookies and if you follow it to the letter, you will rank number one. And that’s just not the way it works. Um…so, if you think that you can just say “Ok, I’m gonna have 14.5% keyword density or 7%, or 77% and now it mean that our rank is number one. That’s really not the case. That’s not the way that Search Engine Rankings work.

  3. Algorithms will get updated as more people start misusing these and I don't think Google or Matt Cutts will ever let you know the exact number on keywords density. It might be related to another 200 factors. As per Matt, keywords are not considered, but I still see many old SEO sites still speaking about Keywords.. If people were to know the secret then they would have got PR 1 :)
