How to resize YouTube video for your website

It's always nice to watch video and understand things than going through each of the images to understand an issue. YouTube is one place where you will find lot of tips and online help for many of your issues. Many blog and website owners love to embed YouTube video in their websites but forget to resize YouTube video while embedding.

I have seen many blogs and websites where the embedded YouTube video goes out of the border lines of the template they use and the YouTube video will play under or over the sidebar widgets. If you have similar issues with your embedded YouTube video, then here is a way to resize YouTube video:

  • Just below the YouTube video, click on 'Share' button.

  • Click on 'Embed' and a small piece of code will appear.

  • By default, there will be a number which is editable.

  • In the 'Video Size' drop-down you have an option to select one of the predefined video sizes.

  • Select 'Custom Size'and enter the values of width and height to fit your website or blog.

  • Copy and paste this modified code in your blog or website.

Same is the case with other embedded videos other than YouTube. Just change the height and width number when you embed videos and it will fix exactly the way you want. Also, you can always change this settings even after publishing the post by going back to that YouTube video and follow the above steps. Note that it's better to leave a link to YouTube than embedding YouTube video as embedding video will add to the page load time.

  2. Looks like you have placed the code in the wrong place.
When you write a post in Wordpress.. to the right top corner there are 2 options "Visual" and "Text". By default.. Visual will be selected. Select Text and then place your Youtube code instead of placing it in Visual. The reason why your code is being displayed is you have placed the code in Visual tab instead of Text tab.
Hope this fixed your issue. Let me know..
