Promoting your brand plays an important role when you want to expand your social presence. People and companies add Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter follow button and subscribe button on YouTube videos in their blogs and websites. This is one best practice to increase or to get back visitors and increase revisit traffic. Also, once they follow or subscribe you can be sure that they get all your latest posts and updates that you have made.

Let me talk about YouTube here. I have seen many videos where they had annotation and a link to their YouTube profile when the video is being played. This is one way to divert visitors to your YouTube profile and asking them to subscribe to your page which is kind of OK to me but I don't recommend because people may not like links while the video is being played. But you can place a link in the video for certain time interval in the region which is not so important.
If you want to add a subscribe button on YouTube videos then there is a built-in feature on YouTube which you can enable to show the subscribe button instead of those annotation. To enable this just go to your YouTube profile. Under 'Channel Settings' click on 'InVideo Programming'. Here you will find something called 'Branding Watermark'. Youhave multiple options like when do you want the subscribe button to appear in the YouTube videos - at the beginning, at certain time interval or at the end and also you can set duration. Once selected, click on update. Also, you need to import an image which will appear in all videos.

Note that once subscribe button is enabled, it will appear in all your videos and will look similar in all your YouTube videos. You will see the photo that you had uploaded and when clicked on it will take visitors to your profile where they can subscribe. You can upload your own photo or a photo which says subscribe, so that it appears as a subscribe button instead of just a photo. If you do not want the subscribe button to be the same in all videos then you can always go for annotation.
