How to hide Gmail ID from unknown Google Plus users

Google has been working hard with Google Plus after it's failure in social media - Orkut. In the recent past there were multiple updates on Google services and you might have seen integration of Google Plus with many Google services like YouTube and Bloggers comments. When some one sends an email using their Gmail ID, to the right corner  of your email there used to be (even now) a Google plus badge to follow the user.

Google plus is now integrated with your Gmail too and not many are happy with this. The reason is your Gmail ID is now made visible to all Google Plus users once you reply to someone on Google Plus which was not the case earlier. According to Google you can reach more people you may know by making your Gmail ID visible to unknown Google Plus users. Google plus is still good as your email address isn't visible to your Google Plus connections until you send them an email, and their email addresses are not visible to you until they respond. According to Google it's completely safe, but not all are happy with this new change in Gmail settings.

Good thing is if you are not happy with this change then you can go back to your previous settings by updating your Gmail settings. There is an option named 'Email via Google+' and by default, the option will be 'Anyone on Google+' can email you via your Google+ profile. You can select other options like 'Extended circles', 'Circles' or 'No one'.

Google has informed all it's Gmail users about this change by sending an email to user's Gmail ID. If you have not noticed this then it better to have a look at it. Also, don't forget to check who is in your Google+ circles.
