Many websites including mine display a small logo/icon called favorite icon or favicon as shown. Usually this icon will be a small version of their logo or some short form. - If you are using wordpress and one of the standard templates then the template theme might offer you to upload .ico file where you can upload this file and save the template.
- Now to get this .ico file there are many websites where you can convert your image file into a .ico file like Favicon or Dynamic Drive.
- Once an icon is created, publish the icon into the root directory of your website, a location where most of the browsers automatically look into for your favicon when a visitor bookmarks your site.
- Including this in HTML will help the browser find your icon. This can be done by including <link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.your-web-site-name.com/favicon.ico"> within the <head> and </head> preferably at the end.
- Just save your web browser and publish it. Now, open your website and you will find your favicon. If not wait for a while and refresh your page.
- Try saving your page as bookmark and your favicon should appear.
