You must have seen websites where they ask for user permissions like user location, automatic download, java-script etc. Usually you find good and secure websites ask for these website permissions where as websites which don't stick on to good practices may not follow these.
I have seen that most of the websites with secure connection have these options like Google, Facebook, Bank websites etc. To identify and to make sure that the websites is genuine, check for the "https" and a lock symbol as shown here.
If you are using Google Chrome browser to access these secure websites then clicking on the lock symbol will bring a pop-up slider. This window will show you, if the website has been verified or not. As you can see in the image, connection tab will show users the type of encryption used, verified details and updated date.
The other tab is the permissions tab where you can see the website permissions that are set by default. This is the place where you or users can change or update the default settings for a particular website. 'Allow by default' is the global settings for all websites which is set in the browser and the same applies to all the websites. But if you want to change settings only to this website then there are two other options - 'Always allow on this site' and 'Always block on this site'.
Popups are usually blocked, but you might want to consider enabling this for bank websites as blocking a window during transaction might irritate and cancel the transaction. Note that the settings that you change here is local - which means these settings are only for this website and not for all the websites. If you want it to be global - for all websites then you will have to go to browser settings and update your preferences there.
